He drives his car towards town. The sun is low in the sky, it cast long shadows accross the road. In the seat beside him, lays a small box. In the box, sits a happy little puppy. Her tail wags. To her, this is a wonderful new adventure.
He doesent look at her as he drives, or when he pulls in to the parking lot. He parks the car, but keeps it running. He silently opens his door, and steps out in to the cold autminum air. He goes to the passenger door, and opens it. He picks up the box with the puppy in it, and walks to the corner of a store. The puppy yips happily as the scents of this new place reach her.
He sets the box down and stands there for a moment. He dosent make eyes contact with the puppy. Instead, he walks back to the car, gets in it, and shifts it in to gear. He backs away, and turns on to the road.
The puppy whimpers as she sees her master drive away, but all the time, her tail is wagging. The car dissipears, and she climbs out of the box. She gazes around, not sure what to do. She sites down, and waits for her maseter to come. The sun sets, and the air gets colder, but still, she sits and waits. She is loyal, like most of her kind. As the moon rises, she still waits, her tail wagging all the time. Finaly, as the wind picks up, she slowly walks a small bush near the parking lot. She riggles her way inside and curls up in a small little ball. She peers out at the road, her tail still wagging. Still waiting for her master to come back for her. In her mind, she knows he will come back. He always has come back to her, and she beleaves now is no diffrent from anyother time. All through the night, her tail waggs, and she waits. She shivers constantly, but she stays where she is. Her tail has slowed, but it still wags.
The night gets colder. She shivers. She begins to feel numb, and breathing becomes diffecult. As the moon dips in the night sky, the puppy begins to close her eyes. She cant feel anymore, cant hear or see. She wants to stay awake, but her body cant. She wants to wait for her master. Wants it to be like all the other times. In her mind, she thinks it will be the same. Because thats all shes known. She dosent understand, that shes losing the battle. Shes never been alone before, and as reality sets in, she closes her small, inacent eyes, and as the last breath leaves her body, her tail wags once more, as she waits for the one she loved most, to bring her home.
